USA: If NAFTA is terminated 'it'll be fine' — Trump holds talks with Trudeau

US President Donald Trump stated that if America is unable to reach a deal in the negotiations over the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), «it'll be terminated and that will be fine,» during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Washington DC, Wednesday. Speaking from the Oval Office at the White House, Trump said that negotiations between US, Canada and Mexico are... Еще currently ongoing and that «it's possible we won't be able to make a deal, and it's possible that we will.» The US President pointed out that both his country and Canada have to protect their workers, and added that, although he himself has «been opposed to NAFTA for a long time,» the US will renegotiate the terms of the trilateral trade agreement. «And I think Justin understands this: if we can't make a deal, it'll be terminated and that will be fine,» he added. Back in May, Trump declared the US' intention to renegotiate the 23-year-old free trade agreement. Trudeau, who made his second visit to Washington DC this year, will visit Mexico to hold further talks on NAFTA on Thursday.
