USA: Hundreds turn out in NYC to protest Trump’s ‘fascist administration’

Hundreds of protesters gathered in New York City’s Washington Square Park on Thursday to demonstrate against US President Donald Trump’s so-called travel ban and the proposed Republican tax bill. Groups such as the New York Immigration Coalition, MPower Change and Strong Economy for All organised the event after the US Senate passed a bill which would see tax rates slashed in a move they see as... Еще detrimental to the working and middle classes. In addition to the outrage over the bill, many turned out to support the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy which Trump terminated the act upon taking office The Dream Act, as it is unofficially known, allows a two year stay in the US for certain undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country before the age of 16. A proposed travel ban on several mainly Muslim countries set to be imposed by Trump also sparked outrage among the protesters. “They are trying to exhaust us; it’s a tactic of a fascist administration to distract us from what they are really doing. The political corruption, the nepotism that is happening within this administration, but guess what, we are not distracted, we know exactly what’s going on,” explained Linda Sarsour, a political activist.
