USA: Hundreds of white supremacists hold torch-lit rally at University of Virginia

Hundreds of white supremacists held a torch-lit rally and procession at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, on Friday night. The unauthorised rally caught authorities by surprise, leading to arrests and scuffles with counter-protesters. Demonstrators chanted «Jews will not replace us» and «white lives matter,» alongside other slogans such as «blood and soil,» and accompanied by... Еще Nazi salutes, as they marched through the university grounds. The rally is ostensibly in response to the planned removal of General Robert E Lee's statue in Charlottesville. A bigger, and authorised, rally under the name «United the Right» is expected to draw 6,000 white supremacists on Saturday night to the outskirts of the city.
