Hundreds of people demonstrated in front of US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach on Monday, against his alleged definition of Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as «shithole countries.»
Several demonstrators were Haitians living in the United States, holding Haitian flags and signs such as «Haiti is not a sh**hole. Respect for us.» «All of us are here because we are... Еще proud to be Haitian,” one demonstrator said before adding “we do not want to be disrespected.» Trump was spending Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, at his West Palm Beach golf resort. Across the street from the demonstrators, a group of Trump supporters also convened to see the President’s passing motorcade.
Trump sparked international controversy following reports that he referred to Haiti, El Salvador and African countries using the word «shithole”, during a meeting on immigration in the Oval Office last Thursday. The US President proceeded to tell a journalist «I'm the least racist person you've ever interviewed» on Sunday.
