A German woman who posed as a billionaire heiress was sentence to at least four years in prison at Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday.
Anna Sorokin was found guilty in April of theft of services and grand lacerny, having stolen more than $200,000 (€178,000) from hotels and banks.
Sorokin, who rejected a plea deal, may face deportation to Germany.
Her defence lawyer, Todd Spodek, said he was... Еще pleased with the sentencing.
«I'm happy that [Judge Diane Kiesel] took my theory into consideration in fashioning a sentence and in her remarks and I think she was fair in her ultimate sentence.»
Under the assumed name of Anna Delvey, Sorokin shunned her humble beginnings — her father is reportedly a former trucker — in favour of the high-life in New York.
The 28-year old's story was quickly bought up by Netflix.
