Former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos was sentenced to 14 days is prison by a Washington D.C. district court on Friday, for lying to federal agents about his contact with Russian-linked individuals during the presidential campaign.
Papadopoulos was seen arriving at the district court and then leaving again after pleading guilty of lying to FBI agents during the investigation into ties... Еще between campaign members and Russia in the 2016 US elections.
«His primary interest was to do what he thought the campaign wanted him to do to put Russian officials together with the United States officials to work on some better relationship with Russia,» attorney Thomas Breen explained.
He justified his client's actions by saying that he didn't think it was important to mention his contacts with Russians
«At this point that we know Russia meddled with the election, there is no doubt about that.»
The court also ordered one year of supervised release, 200 hours of community service and a fine of $9.500 (8.200 euro) as part of the deal Papadopoulos struck with special counsel Robert Mueller when he pleaded guilty in October 2017.
