USA: Fissure 7 shoots up lava as Kilauea rages on

Footage captured on Sunday showed a steady fountain of fresh lava being shot up in air as the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii's Big Island spewed hot currents through its fissure 7. Technically referred to as «curtain of fire,» the hot lava fountains sprung out of the volcano's lower east rift, flowing the way to the north west. Two neighbourhoods and nearly 2,000 people have already been evacuated... Еще, while the increasing volume of lava flows and toxic gases spewing from open fissures are raising fears that more residential areas could become affected. The Kilauea volcano erupted on May 3 and there is no indication yet as to when the explosive eruptions might end. Mandatory credit: US Geological Survey, Department Of The Interior/USGS
