USA: Federal agents use tear gas against Portland protesters

Federal agents used tear gas and fired less-lethal munitions at protesters in Portland in the early hours of Friday morning, as protests against police brutality and racism continued in the city. Black clad local police and federal officers dressed in camouflage, many holding less-lethal munitions, were seen forcing activists from the scene. The 'rapid deployment teams' deployed by Department of Home Security have reportedly been operating in the city since at Tuesday, with camouflaged officers bundling protesters into unmarked vehicles without explanations or seemingly probably cause. Oregon Governor Kate Brown has severely condemned the actions of the federal government, slamming the move as a 'blatant abuse of power,' with the state's justice department announcing that it would be suing to halt the practice on Friday evening.
