Therapy dogs specialised in crisis-response work were brought in by their owners to the city of El Paso on Monday, on the location of the deadly mass shooting that took place two days ago. The canine recruits were deployed to bring comfort to first responders and victims of the shooting.
«I'm out here trying to just bring a little bit of comfort with my dog, just doing anything and everything... Еще that I can to help ease some of that pain,» shared dog owner Tiffany Meyer.
Curt Merker, who got his dog certified for crisis response work, explained that «people hug them, they hold them, they might cry, they might laugh with them. And a dog never says the wrong thing. He's just there for moral support for them, and that's what people love.»
On Saturday, 22 people were killed and more than two dozen injured, after a gunman opened fire at a Walmart store inside the Cielo Vista Mall, the largest shopping centre in El Paso, Texas.
