Democratic presidential candidate Peter Buttigieg declared his campaign a «new generation of leadership» to contend with US President Donald Trump at a rally in Waterloo on Saturday, days before the Iowa caucuses.
He expressed readiness to tackle challenges the US is and will be facing, including «issues that are profoundly new and will require vision and imagination, all needing to be dealt with... Еще in a climate of partisan division, and dysfunction.»
«That is why we need a fundamentally new approach and a focus on the future,» he stressed.
38-year-old Buttigieg is the first openly homosexual candidate from a major party to run for the presidency and would become the youngest to hold office if elected.
Iowa's caucuses for US presidential elections are scheduled for February 3.
