USA: Charlottesville schools on lockdown following online security threat

Police cars were deployed outside schools in Charlottesville as part of a lockdown, Wednesday, after the FBI notified the city's City Schools division of a potential security threat. Local authorities were told by the FBI that users of a social media board wrote about their being «discontent with recent events in Charlottesville.» The online post also expressed admiration for gunman Stephen... Еще Paddock, who opened fire on the Route 91 country music festival in Las Vegas on October 1, and stated that Charlottesville's schools «should be the next target.» «I am here to pick up my little brother. He just doesn't feel safe,» said a local resident outside Buford Middle School. The man commented on the threat saying that «it's just crazy.» In August, a far-right rally in Charlottesville rallied around the planned removal of a Robert E. Lee statue. Rising tensions led to clashes with counter protesters and a vehicle-ramming attack that left one dead and 19 injured.
