USA: Charlottesville car attack suspect faces upgraded 1st-degree murder charge

Charlottesville car attack suspect James Alex Fields Jr faced a new charge of first-degree murder in Charlottesville on Thursday, having originally been charged with second-degree murder after killing one person and injuring others while driving in August 2017. Fields is accused of ramming into a crowd demonstrating against a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville in August, killing 32-year... Еще-old Heather Heyer. Alex Michael Ramos, who was charged with assaulting Deandre Harris, and Richard Preston, who charged with firing a gun less than 1000 feet from a school for their roles in the Charlottesville attack were also present during the court session. Richard Preston was confronted as he entered the court in support of Preston, while Jason Kessler, organizer of the far-right Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, was called a «murderer» by an attendee and told to leave the city. The car attack followed one day after a white supremacist rally campaigned against the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee from the small Virginian city by local authorities.
