Black Lives Matter protesters took to the streets in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Monday, after a video circulated on social media showing an officer placing his knee on the neck of a handcuffed man outside of a hospital.
The demonstrators marched through the city carrying signs reading «Defund the police» and were heard chanting «Your time is done.»
«That man was in front of a hospital, and the statement they made is that he was throwing up. So if a man is in front of a hospital, throwing up, your and their first response is to put your knee on his neck?» said a speaker in front of the crowd.
The action was the same method used during the arrest of George Floyd in Minneapolis, causing him to plead with officers before he was eventually killed. The police department has yet to release the identity of the officer involved in the incident or of the restrained man.
