USA: 2012 Benghazi attack suspect goes on trial in DC

Libyan citizen Ahmed Abu Khattala went on trial, Sunday, as proceedings opened in Washington DC with regard to the 2012 Benghazi attack in which four US citizens died. Khattala stands accused of masterminding the attacks on a US consulate and a CIA annex on 11th September 2012 in the aftermath of the Libyan Civil War. The US Ambassador to Libya John Stevens, US Foreign Service officer Sean... Еще Smith and CIA contractors Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were all killed in the attack which made use of arson, RPGs and automatic rifles as a large number of militants attacked a CIA compound and the US embassy in Benghazi. «I thought that the testimony of security officer Scott Wickland really fell down today, especially around the key moment, when he takes Ambassador Stevens and Sean Smith into the safe room,» said George Webb, a journalist. «I think the defence is going to go right at that tomorrow and say 'how could this be?'»
