UN: 'We are not friends, we are brothers' — Venezuelan FM tells Russian counterpart

And of course we support strongly what El Salvador is trying to do, Dominican Republic, I met with them today and we discussed this.» Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza told his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that the two countries were «brothers» and that Venezuela could rely on Russia, during a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York City on Thursday. «We are not friends, we are brothers,» the Venezuelan Foreign Minister told his Russian counterpart. He went on to say that the South American country could «count» on Russia. Arreaza also stated that the country was taking into account every action, including military action, and was prepared «for any option» after US President Donald Trump threatened that he would not rule out military intervention in Venezuela.
