UN: Russia calls on SC to act 'promptly' against chemical attacks

«The importance of the collective work to eliminate this terrifying phenomenon of the chemical terrorism is only increasing and we need to act promptly,» Russian Representative to the United Nations Vladimir Safronkov said during a United Nations Security Council meeting in New York on Thursday. In response to the western countries' references on the alleged chemical attacks in Salisbury and... Еще Douma, he said that he «everyone is quite tired of the unsubstantial claims. The same applies to Eastern Ghouta which we hope will soon start to return to peaceful life and the OPCW experts will investigate the assertions. And we hope that they will be let to do it.» Karen Pierce, British Representative to the UN said risks «have been exacerbated by the use of weapons of mass destruction by state actors», while the US Representative promised to «follow the hands of non-state actors who carry out terrorist attacks.» Earlier today, the UK called for a UN Security Council meeting on the outcome of the Salisbury incident released by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
