UN: Qatari Emir hits out at neighbours over 'unjust blockade' and terror accusations

The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani condemned the countries involved in a land, air and sea blockade against his homeland during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, Tuesday. The Emir described Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt's actions as «unjust» amidst a diplomatic crisis, due in part to accusations of Qatari funded terrorism. «I stand... Еще before you while my country and my people are subjected to an ongoing and unjust blockade imposed since June 5 by neighbouring countries,» al Thani said. «The countries who imposed the blockade on the State of Qatar interfere in the internal affairs of many countries, and accuse all those who oppose them domestically and abroad with terrorism. By doing they are inflicting damage on the war on terror.» Speaking about international affairs, the Emir demanded an end to the violence against the Rohingya minority in Myanmar. «I call upon Myanmar's government and the international community for their legal and moral responsibility to take the needed procedures to stop violence against the Rohingya minority,» al Thani urged.
