UN: Moscow ready to be 'mediator' in Palestinian-Israeli conflict

Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vladimir Safronkov stated on Monday that Russia is 'ready to be unbiased mediators' in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict after the US vetoed a resolution drawn up against recognising Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Vladimir Safronkov said, «We reiterate the relevance of our proposal to conduct a summit in Russia, a summit between the... Еще leaders of Palestine and Israel. We are ready to be unbiased mediators.» He called on all parties, «show restraint and refrain from any action which could be fraught with dangerous consequences.» The other 14 members of the Security Council members voted in favour of the resolution proposed, however, as a permanent member the US's veto was successful. Trump recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on December 6 in a live televised address from Washington DC, simultaneously starting the process of relocating the US embassy from Tel Aviv. The announcement sparked a wave of protests throughout the world.
