UN: Lavrov wishes Swiss counterpart whatever he 'wishes for himself' during UNGA meeting

Thank you very much.» Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (English): «Now get out.» Didier Bukhalter, Swiss Foreign Minister (English): «Another Russian answer!» Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (English): «Thank you gentlemen, and ladies!» Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov wished his Swiss counterpart Didier Burkhalter «whatever [he] wishes for himself» during a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York City, Monday. The comment came in response to a question from a journalist who asked the Russian foreign minister what he would «wish» for Burkhalter on his last day at the UN. «Well, whatever Didier wishes for himself I would be very much in favour. Because it’s not what we want, you know, for others. It’s what each of us wants for himself,» Lavrov joked. The meeting came a day before UNGA’s key debates between world leaders start on September 19. The General Assembly runs until September 29.
