UN: Iran 'not on UNSC agenda' — Security Council President Umarov

The United Nations Security Council is not planning to hold an emergency session on Iran, said the Kazakhstan's Permanent Representative to the UN and the Security Council President Kairat Umarov at a press conference in New York City on Tuesday. «Iran is not in the agenda of the Security Council, but if any member wants to raise this issue and discuss it, of course, we will be ready to work on... Еще this. So, it depends on how the Security Council agrees on that,» explained Umarov. Earlier on Tuesday, US Permanent Representative to the Security Council Nikki Haley stated that Washington was going to call for an emergency UN session to discuss the current situation in Iran, where at least 21 people had died in anti-government protests. The protests erupted on Thursday and have since spread across the whole country, with rallies against rising food prices, unemployment and alleged corruption. They are the largest protests since the country's disputed 2009 presidential election. Mandatory Credit: UN Web TV
