United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres called onto Myanmar government to end military operation that forced the hundreds of thousands Rohingya Muslims to flee the country, Thursday, speaking at the UN Security Council. The UN Secretary General went on to call the Myanmar crisis «a human rights nightmare» which is turning into «the world’s fastest developing refugee emergency». «We... Еще have received bone-chilling accounts from those who fled, mainly women, children and the elderly. These testimonies point to excessive violence and serious violations of human rights,» said Guterres before adding, «This is unacceptable and must end immediately.» The UN has estimated that around 500,000 people have fled since August 25, more than 90 percent are Rohingya, amid widespread reports of indiscriminate killings, arson, looting and rape by the Myanmar military. Myanmar's military claims to be pursuing Rohingya militants, after an attack that left 12 police officers dead on 25 August this year.
