UN: Assistant Sec-Gen stresses importance of cross-border cooperation on Syria

The importance of cross-border cooperation on Syria was stressed during the UNSC meeting, as Ursula Mueller, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator addressed the attendees in New York City on Thursday. «Without the cross-border operation, we would see an immediate end of aid supporting millions of civilians. That would cause a rapid increase... Еще in hunger and disease, resulting in death, suffering and further displacement-including across borders-for a vulnerable population who have already suffered unspeakable tragedy as a result of almost nine years of conflict,» stressed Mueller. The Assistant Secretary-General also mentioned the hard economic situation in Syria, adding that «the cost of living grows, income stagnates, and currency loses value.» Mandatory Credit: UNTV Mandatory Credit: UNTV
