UN: ‘Arsonist investigating fire’ — UK on joint Skripal enquiry with Russia

Karen Pierce, the UK's representative to the UN, said that Russian proposals to jointly investigate the Skripal case resembles 'an arsonist who wishes to investigate his own fire,' as she spoke during a Security Council meeting in New York City on Thursday. Pierce also added that the nerve agent used in Salisbury attack was a 'weapon of mass destruction' adding that 'we have nothing to hide, but... Еще I do feel that Russia might have something to fear.' The recent UNSC meeting was called by Russia following the recent revelations Britain's chemical research facility at Porton Down was unable to concretely identify the exact source of the nerve agent. Former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned at the beginning of March in Salisbury. The UK has blamed Moscow for the incident, while the Kremlin has denied any involvement in the affair.
