Around 200 people protested in support of former Georgian President and Ukrainian opposition leader Mikhail Saakashvili while he appeared in court in Kiev on Monday. Protesters gathered around the Pechersk District Court, where a meeting was scheduled to elect restraint measures for Saakashvili, arrested on Friday for alleged criminal conspiracy. The court was surrounded by policemen and... Еще soldiers of the National Guard. The prosecutor's office asked the court to put Saakashvili under house arrest and to make him wear an electronic bracelet, while Saakashvili's defense opposed any measure of restraint. Saakashvili, President of Georgia between 2004 and 2013, went on to establish the Ukrainian opposition movement 'Movement of the New Forces' in February 2017. On Sunday, thousands of his supporters rallied in Kiev demanding his release from jail and the impeachment of the country's president Petro Poroshenko.
