Ukraine: Saakashvili questioned by Kiev security service

Former Georgian President and Governor of Odessa Mikheil Saakashvili spoke to the press following the interrogation by Ukraine's Security Service (SBU), in Kiev on Wednesday. According to his defence lawyer, Saakashvili was held at SBU headquarters for four hours and was interrogated for some two hours. Saakashvili claimed that such major cases as the Maidan shootings and the poisoning of... Еще Viktor Yushchenko were not investigated because it was not beneficial for Ukrainian authorities, adding that «the entire law enforcement system is now working against Saakashvili.» The former Georgian president said that the interrogation was concerned with his political activities in Ukraine. He stressed that all questions were of a «purely political nature» and were «unequivocally concerned with the political actions that we have conducted in recent months in Ukraine.» He went on to joke, «I conducted an entire course of politology to them,» noting that he had given them «political explanations of what peaceful actions mean,» «how they are prepared,» and «what coordination of political forces means.»
