Ukraine: RIA Novosti journalist appears in court

RIA Novosti Ukraine editor-in-chief Kirill Vyshinsky appeared in court at the Kherson Regional Court of Appeal on Friday, on charges of treason and criminal proceedings. During the hearing, Vyshinsky's lawyers pled to recuse the panel of judges, but their request was overruled. Vyshinsky is being held on suspicion of treason and criminal proceedings have commenced under Part 1 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Security Service. The crime carries a sentence of up to 15 years.
