Ukraine: 'Politically motivated crime' — claims journalist on Babchenko's murder

Journalist Ayder Muzhdabayev claimed that the murder of the Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko was a «contract killing» orchestrated to «please the Russian authorities,» from Kiev on Tuesday. «In my opinion, it was a direct contract for a political, international, terrorist killing of a journalist for his public journalistic activities aimed at exposing the actions of the Russian Federation in... Еще Ukraine and other countries,» he claimed. Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko was shot dead in Kiev on Tuesday. Babchenko, who had been shot several times, was found bleeding at the entrance to their apartment by his wife who called emergency services, according to the Ukrainian police. Despite medical assistance, the journalist died from the sustained wounds on the way to the hospital. Arkady Babchenko was a Russian citizen employed by the Kiev-based ATR TV channel. He was 41 years old. Ukrainian investigators said the murder could be linked to Babchenko's «professional activities.» The Russian Investigative Committee meanwhile, has also opened a criminal investigation into the killing of their citizen.
