At least eight police officers were wounded in clashes between law enforcement officers and protesters outside the Verkhovna Rada in Kiev on Tuesday. At least nine people have been detained following the clashes. According to local media, protesters rolled tyres to the Ukrainian Parliament building and attempted to set them alight. A number of National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) officers are believed to have been injured as well. Ukrainian Member of Parliament Anton Gerashchenko has claimed that the protest was staged by supporters of former Georgian President and Governor of Odessa Mikheil Saakashvili. Saakashvili has denied involvement of his supporters in the clashes.
