A monument to Ukrainian soldiers who took part in the so-called 'anti-terrorist operation' (ATO) in eastern Ukraine was unveiled at a ceremony in Kiev, Tuesday.
The memorial is a vertical structure of 2.5 metres (8.20 feet) in height. The upper part of the monument is a sword, which is said to symbolise the future victories of Ukrainian forces over their enemies and which is thrust into a map of... Еще the Russian Federation.
On the monument's base is depicted a guardian angel with wings painted yellow and blue — the national colours of Ukraine. The angel is there to protect Ukrainian troops.
Money for the creation of the monument was collected by volunteers and by members of a Ukrainian battalion.
