The next hearings in the case against former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will take place on Aug 10 and Aug 15, a panel of judges at Obolonsky District Court ruled in Kiev, Thursday.
The decision comes despite defence attorney Vitaly Meshechek's request for a one-month break to study the case materials.
«We have all heard the decision of the court and its justification, but I... Еще believe that there is the procedure established by the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine and that the court has not followed that procedure» stated Meshechek.
On November 28, 2016, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko charged Yanukovych in absentia, accusing the former president of «committing high treason, deliberate actions to change the borders of [Ukraine] in violation of the order established by the Constitution, [and] conducting an aggressive war.»
