The world’s first Game of Thrones academic conference kicked off at the University of Hertfordshire's de Havilland campus in Hatfield, Wednesday. Conference organiser Kim Akass termed the TV series «a huge worldwide phenomenon», adding that «everybody’s watching it, but they’re saying 'but why are academics talking about Game of Thrones?' And what we’re saying is «well why not?» About 30... Еще researchers, including guests from Brazil, Australia, Denmark and New Zealand, will present their papers at the conference. One of them, second year MPhil/PhD Candidate at Birkbeck, University of London Olivia Hinkin explained that her research was dedicated to the incestuous relationships between three pairs of characters. «It’s just looking at incest and how it relates to modern world anxieties about incestuous relationships and maybe it’s helping us work through some of these anxieties», said Hinkin.
