UK: 'What's happening in this country?!' — Yakovenko slams Westminster

SOT, Alexander Yakovenko, Russian Ambassador to the UK: *TRANSCRIPT TO FOLLOW* Russia's Ambassador to the United Kingdom Alexander Yakovenko asked whether the British press was free to report on the Skripal case during a press conference in London on Friday. «Did anyone see her [Yulia Skripal] pictures after the poisoning? Did anyone hear their [Yulia and Sergei Skripal] voices?» he asked... Еще. «Why haven't they met you [the press]? What's happening in this country, where media is supposed to be free?» Earlier in the press conference, Yakovenko showed a video reel of former British prime minister Tony Blair condoning intervention in Syria, followed by excerpts of his Iraq War justification and subsequent apology for the 2003 invasion. Yakovenko then responded to a reporter's question regarding the video tape after she claimed it was drawing a comparison between Blair and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. «I didn't compare the two. You did, sorry about that,» he said. «Assad was elected by his people. He is the only legitimate Syrian President.»
