Volunteers planted some 15,000 trees in near Heanor, Derbyshire, on Saturday as part of a campaign called the 'Big Climate Fightback.'
The campaign aims to get at least a million people across the UK to plant a tree in order to fight climate change and is organised by the Woodland Trust, the country's largest woodland conversation charity.
The organisers said at least 15,000 trees have been... Еще planted in just one day thanks to the efforts of the volunteers at their 'Young People's Forest' site, which was formerly an open cast mine.
A Woodland Trust representative stressed the importance of the action, explaining the trees would be «locking up carbon, giving us oxygen and growing up a fantastic timber crop for the future.»
The participants themselves said the experience was 'brilliant', 'good fun' and moreover, 'rewarding'.
