The missing US fighter aircraft pilot was confirmed dead after crashing into the North Sea by Colonel Will Marshall, the 48th Fighter Wing Commander at RAF Lakenheath on Monday.
The pilot was originally missing after the crash occurred during a routine training mission. A search and rescue mission was underway for the pilot of the F-15 C aircraft, who had taken off from the largest US Air Force-operated base in England.
The reason behind the crash is unknown.
«This is a tragic loss for the 48th Fighter Wing community, and our deepest condolences go out to the pilot's family and the 493rd Fighter Squadron,» Marshall added.
