UK: «This was not the moment to reinstate Russia» — IAAF president on Russia's athletics ban

The head of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Sebastian Coe said during a press conference in London, Thursday, that «this was not the moment to reinstate Russia,» commenting on the IAAF Congress’s earlier decision to keep in force Russia's ban from international track and field competition. «Clearly progress is being made,» stated Coe, adding, «we need to make sure... Еще that we do everything over the next few months to try and normalise the situation.» The IAAF's Congress voted to continue RusAF's ban from athletics earlier in the day with 166 votes to 21. Commenting on the presentation delivered by the head of the Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF) Dmitri Shlyakhtin before the vote, Coe noted that he had found it «candid» adding that he believes RusAF is «doing everything they can to make sure the [athletics] federation is reengineered.» The All-Russia Athletics Federation’s membership of the IAAF was suspended in November 2015 following an investigation into alleged doping in Russian sports following a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) commissioned report.
