As the Grenfell Public Inquiry Phase One report was released in London, Wednesday, some relatives of the deceased organised a press conference to discuss the report's findings, in which many were extremely critical of the fire service, who they argue should be «completely overhauled.»
The report is damning of the London Fire Brigade, with two areas of serious criticism, one being their «faith... Еще» in the 'stay put' policy, despite the spread of the fire, the second being a failure to prepare for external spread of fire consistent with cladding fires.
Christos Fairburn, a survivor from the 15th floor, described how he made his way down the smoke-filled staircase, which was «full of bodies.» He now suffers from PST (post traumatic stress) and has not received any help since 14 June 2017, when the fire happened.
Another survivor, who had lived on the 13th floor, ignored the 'stay-put' order, and asked his family and neighbours to evacuate, now knowing that is the reason they «are all alive on the 13th floor.»
Seventy two people were killed in the fire at the 24-storey Grenfell Tower on the Lancaster West Estate on June 14, 2017.
