UK: Tensions rise as coronavirus sceptics protest in London

Tension has risen as heavy police reinforcements were deployed to face hundreds of demonstrators who marched from Trafalgar Square to the Cabinet Office in central London, to protest measures in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Protesters were seen holding up banners with slogans against the implemented restrictions, such as «If you tolerate this, then your children will be next,» while police were deployed in front of the Cabinet Office to prevent the protesters from accessing it. Starting from Wednesday, COVID-related restrictions are to be eased in parts of northern England. As of Friday, the UK has reported 333,807 confirmed coronavirus cases, with 41,573 related deaths, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
