A team of 50 surgeons in Leicester managed successfully to perform a life-saving operation to put the heart of a new-born baby back inside her chest, as reported on Wednesday. The procedure took place at Glengield Hospital in Leicester on November 22 and is reportedly the first successful operation of its kind ever to be performed in Britain. The baby, named Vanellope, suffers from ectopia... Еще cordis, a very rare condition where the heart forms partly or fully located outside the thorax. The baby was delivered by caesarean section and had a less than 10% of chances to survive. Vanellope has already undergone three heart operations and now the organ is fully inside her body and covered with a skin graft taken from her arms. Cases of babies being born with such condition are estimated at less than 10 per million.
