Scotland's former first minister Alex Salmond arrived at Edinburgh's High Court on Friday for the tenth day of his trial on sexual crime charges. Salmond's defence team was set to make closing arguments in the case.
On Thursday, prosecutor Alex Prentice alleged Salmond was a «predator» who «abused his power to satisfy his sexual desire with impunity.» He asked the court to convict the former... Salmond, who served as the first minister of Scotland from 2007 to 2014, was the leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) for over twenty years.
Salmond denies all 14 allegations, which include attempted rape at the official residence of the Scottish first minister, Bute House, in June 2014.
Salmond resigned from the SNP after the allegations became public in August 2018. He was officially arrested and charged in January 2019.
