UK: Sane out for six months after ACL injury — City boss Guardiola
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he expects German player Leroy Sane, to be out for «six or seven months» due to a knee injury he sustained last week, while speaking at a press conference in Manchester on Friday.
Sane suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during Man City's Community FA Shield final victory against... Еще Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday.
The German winger is set to have surgery in Barcelona next week and Guardiola said that the team would be supporting him during his recovery, stating that «all of the people here and going to try to help him to be comfortable in that moment because after one month, two months he will feel alone and we will try to be with him as much as possible and recover as well as possible.»
Guardiola also announced that Spanish player David Silva will be the new team captain, saying that Silva has «been incredibly respectful towards his team-mates. They [team-mates] had to make a decision what was best for the team and for the club.»
Silva replaces Belgian footballer Vincent Kompany, who left the club and signed for Anderlecht.
