UK Prime Minister Theresa May said that the resignation of the UK's Ambassador to the US Kim Darroch was 'a matter of great regret,' while speaking in the House of Commons in London on Wednesday.
Darroch announced his resignation due to a scandal following leaked diplomatic cables in which he called US President Donald Trump and his administration «insecure» and «inept.»
May said that «Sir Kim... Еще has given a lifetime of service to the United Kingdom and we owe him an enormous debt of gratitude.»
«Good government depends on public servants being able to give full and frank advice, I want all of our public servants to have the confidence to be able to do that,» stressed May.
Trump earlier said on Twitter that the US «will no longer deal with» Darroch calling him «wacky» and «a very stupid guy.»
Conservative party leadership candidate and frontrunner to replace Theresa May as prime minister, Boris Johnson, repeatedly failed to say he supported Darroch remaining in his post during a televised debate in the UK on Tuesday.
