UK: Pro-Kurdish demonstrators rally outside BBC after Turkey Kobane attacks

UK: 'Stop supporting Turkish state' — Kurds rally outside BBC London office after Turkey Kobane attacks Dozens of pro-Kurdish demonstrators rallied in front of the BBC Portland Broadcasting House in central London on Thursday, calling on the UK to «stop supporting the Turkish state» and denouncing Turkey's recent attacks on Kobane's Kor Eli and Selim villages in northern Syria. The protest... Еще coincided with World Kobane Day. Demonstrators waved the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) flags and carried banners featuring the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan. A British volunteer who said he had been with the YPG in Rojava for eight months, Jamie Janson, said that «it looks like Turkey is starting a new offensive, although they do frequently fire artillery across the border into Rojava, which is a blatant active aggression. They are targeting civilians.» He then urged the UK to «immediately stop selling weapons to Turkey,» adding that the UK is «actually a part of the aggression.» On Wednesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), backed by the US-led coalition, announced that they would halt their military operations against the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL), citing Turkey's shelling of Kurdish positions in the Kobane area.
