UK: Polish community rally in London against Poland's near-total abortion ban

Hundreds of protesters from London's Polish community rallied outside the Polish embassy, on Wednesday, to protest against a court ruling which rendered the vast majority of abortions illegal in Poland. Protesters chanted and held placards reading «My body, my choice, PiS (Polish Law and Justice party) off» and «I wish I could abort my government.» One protester Eliza said, «Even before this ruling, the abortion law in Poland was very severe, so right now it is basically banned, so this is something that threatens the lives and health of Polish women.» Poland's Constitutional Tribunal last week issued a ruling that banned nearly all abortions, with exceptions only for instances of rape, incest, and when keeping a foetus would endanger a woman's life.
