Wiltshire police gave a press statement in Amesbury on Wednesday following the unfolding of a «major incident» involving a couple exposed to an «unknown substance». «We are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances regarding this incident and will continue to work closely with partners to progress our enquiries,» stated Deputy Chief Constable Paul Mills. He added that «at this stage it is... Еще not yet clear if a crime has been committed.» The couple was taken to Salisbury hospital, after they were discovered unconscious and in a critical condition at an address on Muggleton Road, Amesbury. Police have since declared it a «major incident» and cordoned off a number of locations in the Amesbury and Salisbury area. UK counter-terrorism officers have also joined the investigation. Amesbury is a short distance from the UK chemical weapons laboratory Porton Down and the site where Sergei and Yulia Skripal collapsed after being allegedly poisoned by a nerve agent in March.
