A somber-looking Afghanistan cricket team captain, Gulbadin Naib, addressed the media in Leeds on Saturday after losing a close encounter to Asian rivals Pakistan at the ICC Cricket World Cup.
According to Naib, losing their main bowler Hamid Hasan early in the game to a hamstring injury was the «main turning point» of the match even as he gave credit where it was due adding that «pressure was... Еще still on Pakistan but credit goes to them and how they played and how they finished the game.»
Naib also urged fans to show restraint after clashes erupted at the match, saying «this is only a cricket game, just watch like a cricket game.»
Police were reportedly forced to intervene as the violent clashes erupted between rival supporters, with man of the match Imad Wasim adding that «we are all brothers and we should not fight like this.»
This was Afghanistan's eighth straight loss at the ICC Cricket World Cup.
