MPs and campaigners from the ‘People's Vote’ group handed a petition calling for a second Brexit referendum to number 10 Downing Street in London on Monday.
Among others, Chuka Umunna MP, Vince Cable MP, Caroline Lucas MP and Justin Greening MP attended the small march to 10 Downing Street, where UK Prime Minister Theresa May resides. The group handed the petition over to a clerk and then held... Еще a sit-in close by.
The MPs and the other demonstrators spoke out against Theresa May’s Brexit plan, which is scheduled to be voted on in the House of Commons on December 11.
The People's Vote petition was organised by the British newspaper The Independent and gathered more than 700,000 signatures. According to British law, a petition with 10,000 signatures must receive a response from the government, while a petition with 100,000 signatures has to be considered for a debate in Parliament.
