UK: May and Trump share positive view of NATO Summit

SOT, Donald Trump, President of the United States: «We do and the Prime Minister and I worked very hard together in NATO, that was an incredible two days, I think. It's never been more united, people are paying, we are two of the five that are totally paid up, but others are coming along rapidly. I think it was a very very productive two days. We arrived here last night and we had a dinner where I... Еще think we probably never developed a better relationship than last night. We spoke for hours, for an hour and a half and it was really something. And today we're talking trade, we're talking military, we just looked at some incredible anti-terrorism things that are being done here in conjunction with the United States. The relationship is very very strong, we really have a very good relationship. I think we are going to do a news conference in a little while, so we are going to answer your questions then and right now we are going to be talking about some other things that are taking place in the Middle East and elsewhere. Thank you all very much.» United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May welcomed United States President Donald Trump ahead of their bilateral meeting at Chequers, the UK prime minister's country residence in the village of Ellesborough, on Friday. Theresa May underlined the good relationship between the two countries saying that «We are going to discuss the real opportunities we've got for a fantastic trade deal coming up when we leave the European Union, and of course we will discuss foreign policy and defence and security issues.» In addition, Trump commented on the two days NATO Summit that just ended, saying that «the Prime Minister and I worked very hard together in NATO, that was an incredible two days, I think. It's never been more united, people are paying, we are two of the five that are totally paid up, but others are coming along rapidly. I think it was a very very productive two days.» Trump is on a three-day visit to the United Kingdom after taking part in a NATO Summit in Brussels and before meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on July 16.
