UK: Kurdistan Solidarity Campaign activists protest UK arms sales to Turkey

Dozens of Kurdistan Solidarity Campaign activists gathered in London's Docklands, Sunday, to decry the UK's sale of arms to Turkey and to call on the government in Westminster to «develop an ethical foreign policy in relation to arms sales.» Activists believe the arms sold to Turkey will be used against Kurdish people in the region. While protesting outside the ExCeL (Exhibition Centre London... Еще), which is hosting the upcoming Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) arms fair, the crowd unfurled Confederation of Democratic Rights in Europe (ADHK) flags, and held signs reading «Peace in Kurdistan» and «Stop arming Turkey (ISIS).» A spokesperson of the organisation, Marc Hamble, stressed that «if there is clear evidence that war crimes and crimes against humanity are being perpetrated» in specific countries, «then arms should not be sold to those countries.» Police were deployed to maintain order, and the demonstration was peaceful with no violent incidents reported.
