A group of activists rallied outside London's Upper Tribunal building on Monday, as a hearing over access to files relating to WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange's case got underway.
The hearing follows a Freedom of Information (FOI) request made by Italian investigative journalist Stefania Maurizi in 2015 to the UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), asking for all of its correspondence with... Еще Sweden. The CPS has revealed some information requested by Maurizi, however, the journalist has continued to seek the disclosure of full information.
Maurizi has also reportedly asked the CPS for its correspondence with the US and Ecuadorian authorities. The CPS has refused to confirm or deny whether it held such information.
One activist said, «For a department of the government to say things like 'Well, we neither confirm nor deny whether this correspondence exists' is not sufficient in a transparent, modern democracy.»
A verdict on the FOI request is expected by Friday.
