UK: France, US, UK acting as Syria's ‘judge, jury and executioner’ — Yakovenko

The Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom described the United States, France and the UK as threatening to act as the Syrian government's 'prosecutor, judge and executioner' at a press conference in London on Friday. «We're blocked by the same three permanent members of the Security Council,» explained the ambassador, Alexander Yakovenko. «[They seek to] punish Syria for an alleged crime that... Еще no one has investigated.» He added that the West's response to the Douma incident amounts to trial by social media. Yakovenko said Russian agents travelled to alleged attack site but 'no persons treated for chemical poisoning were found in local hospitals.' The ambassador also stated that Russia welcomed an investigation led by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) as soon as possible. On Saturday, the 'White Helmets' alleged that chemical-filled munitions were dropped over Douma on April 7 causing the deaths of up to 70 people. France, the US and UK have threatened to take action against the Syrian government following the incident. Russia has denied the allegations, calling them a «fabrication.»
